Sunday Morning Family Worship Service:
Our family worship service begins at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday. Students in grades 7-12 will help lead the worship for our children, including reading a liturgy, performing music, delivering the children's message, performing a skit, or offering a prayer. Following family time in Worship, our 7/8th Grade students will proceed to Sunday School and our High School students will have varied activities (see below).
7th-8th Grade Sunday School:
All Sunday School classes will be following the Seasons of the Spirit curriculum. These are interactive lessons that follow the church calendar and help young people explore different aspects of faith. Team building activities will also be used to enhance Sunday School offerings and provide a fun, growing experience.
The confirmation process begins at the start of the 8th grade. There are three major requirements: Attend a confirmation retreat, complete the mentoring schedule including group sessions, and meet with Reverand Bill to discuss Confirmation. Last Spring our Confirmation Sunday was held on May 22nd, where 8 students were confirmed as members of Bay UMC. For more information on our Confirmation Program, please select the link (above) or to the left.
9-12th Grade Formation Opportunities:
During January, 2012 there will be a new Series for our High School Students entitled
"Current People in the midst of Faith," as follows:
Jan 8: Heath Ledger
Jan 15: Kim Kardashian
Jan 22: Lindsay Lohan
Typically, on a monthly basis the following opportunities will be offered:
| Week 1 - Youth Fellowship Sunday | Students will gather in Fellowship Hall for a time of fellowship, sharing, learning and activity, ending at approximately 11:15 a.m. | |
| Week 2 - Social Event/Community Service | Students will be offered an opportunity to participate in a social event or a community service. | |
| Week 3 - Mission Sunday | Students planning to attend ASP or Nehemiah Mission will have scheduled fundraisers and study sessions during this time. Times will vary. | |
| Week 4 - Youth Worship Sunday | Students will participate in and plan worship. A Youth Council meeting will be held after Worship. |
Retreats:
The Nehemiah House of Greater Cleveland is currently our place of retreat. They offer meals and housing plus an opportunity to serve the inner city needs of Cleveland. During the summer, 2011, ten people from Bay UMC participated in 2 days worth of projects which varied from cleaning an inner city Cleveland school to repairing a porch and building front steps to a home that had been in complete disrepair. This year we will host two Retreats, fall and spring. Our 7th & 8th Grade students are welcome for these overnight events.
