Rev. Dr. William E. Buckeye

Rev. Bill joined Bay United Methodist Church in July, 2008.

 

Bill graduated from Cleveland State University in 1980 with a Bachelor's Degree in "Arts & Sociology." He then attended United Theological Seminary in Dayton, and graduated in 1983. Since that time Bill has served as Pastor to several churches within the East Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church. In 2006 Bill also earned his Doctor of Ministry from Western Theological Seminary in Holland, MI, where his area of expertise was "Family Systems."

 

Bill and his wife, Sheila, have 4 grown children between them, and 2 grandchildren. Bill loves to read, and finds the church's book club to be one of his most enjoyable activities.

 

 

Carol Sue Beck, Staff Assistant

Carol Sue Beck manages the church office and has been the Administrative Assistant since 1996. In addition to her duties at Bay UMC, she has been a long-time pianist and church organist.

 

Carol Sue is a graduate of Otterbein College. She and her husband Tom are members of Avon Lake United Church of Christ. They have two grown daughers.

 

 

 

Ron Muth, Director of Music

Ron Muth has served over 30 years as the Director of Music for Bay UMC where he directs both the Chancel and Bell Choirs. He is also Director of Vocal Music at Lutheran West High School in Rocky River, Ohio. Prior to his tenure at Bay UMC, Ron served as bass soloist at Rocky River Methodist Church for 10 years. He was the founding Director of the Rocky River Community Chorus and directed that choir for over 20 years. He began his teaching career at Lorain Catholic High School and after 6 years became Director of Vocal Music and Choir Department for the Rocky River City Schools. He directed choirs at both the middle and high school levels for 25 years.

 

Ron is a graduate of Baldwin Wallace College and received his Masters degree in choral conducting from Cleveland State University. He is a member of this congregation and has two grown children and many beautiful grandchildren.

 

Bill Zurkey, Church Organist

In addition to serving as our Church organist for over 25 years, Bill Zurkey is the Director of Choral Activites at Avon Lake High School and has been active in Ohio public school music for many years. In addition, Bill also coaches football at various levels in the Avon Lake School District.

 

Bill received a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Bowling Green State University and a Masters of Music degree from Cleveland State University. He has since completed additional course work in doctoral studies at Kent State University. Bill and his wife Sandy are members of this congregation and have two grown children.

 

Carrie Antczak, Christian Education Coordinator

Carrie joined Bay UMC in June 2010. She has been a nanny, a children's special-needs camp counselor at Camp Cheerful, a volunteer coordinator for City Year Cleveland, and a nursing home chaplain in Delaware, Ohio.

 

Carrie is a gradualte of Ohio Wesleyan University, where she studied religion, psychology, and gender studies. She is currently a student at Methodist Theological School in Ohio specializing in pastoral care.

 

Anna Magill, Youth Ministries Coordinator

Anna joined Bay UMC in June, 2010. She has been a Youth Minister, teacher and coach. In addition, Anna previously formed her own non-profit organization, "Healing Balm Ministries." In addition to her duties at Bay UMC, Anna currently teaches part-time in the Biology Department at John Carroll University. She hopes to transition into full-time ministry, serving within the Church.

 

Anna is a graduate of both John Carroll University and Ashland Theological Seminary. She holds Masters degrees in Biological Sciences and Practical Theology. She has two sons and resides in University Heights, Ohio.

 

Rosalie Mondello, Financial Secretary

Rosalie joined Bay UMC in October, 2011 as our Financial Secretary. She is also currently working as the Accounting Manager for Lesko Associates in Westlake. She is responsible for all bookkeeping functions within the church and works closely with the Finance Committee Chairperson to help manage the church's finances.

 

Rosalie attended both S.U.N.Y Westchester in Valhalla and Pace University in Pleasantville, NY. She is married to Brian, and together with their children they reside in Avon Lake, Ohio. Rosalie and her family belong to Holy Spirit Church, where she is a cantor, member of the choir and Ladies' Guild. She also enjoys performing in the vocal arts as a member of the Lorain County Civic Choir and is a vocalist at weddings and special occasions.
